Katelyn Twiss

Katelyn Twiss is a year 12 student at Ellesmere College, living in the Leeston township. She is the deputy Chairperson of the Selwyn Youth Council, an organization providing a voice for youth in their community. Katelyn enjoys all aspects of her school and aspires to be the best leader she can. She has a passion for music and sport and in the future wants to study in law or criminal justice.

The Selwyn Youth Council has collaborated with the Selwyn District Council and Environment Canterbury to create an initiative called 'The Selwyn Link'. The initiative is a bus system that connects the isolated areas of Selwyn to Selwyn central to address the issue of isolation and lack of accessibility to wider communities. This is an exciting prospect for Katelyn who feels the need for transport first hand as there is no transport from her community to the rest of Selwyn.
